Duluth, MN Runaway Accident, Mar 1907


David J. Lewis, Hurled From a Carriage, Is in Critical Condition.

David J. Lewis, a blacksmith residing at 2417 West Seventh street, met with a serious accident last evening about 7 o'clock, while out driving.

His horse became terrified at some object and ran away. At Eighth avenue east between Superior and First streets, Mr. Lewis was hurled out of the carriage with such force that when he struck the ground he was knocked unconscious. He was immediately taken to the St. Luke's hospital, where he received medical attention.

The physicians stated that he is so seriously injured about the head that his condition is extremely critical.
