Beauvoir, MS fire at servant's quarters of Jefferson Davis, Jan 1903

Servants' Quarters of Jefferson Davis Home

Burned to the Ground - Loss Estimated Between $500 and $1,000.

Last evening about 3 o'clock the Jefferson Davis property at Beauvoir, five miles from this city, narrowly escaped being destroyed by fire. The fire started from a defective flue in one of the servants' quarters and it and another building were burned to the ground. If the wind had been from the north instead of southwest the home would have gone with the other buildings. Everything except a few minor articles were saved. The damage done is estimated between $500 and $1,000.
