William Schotten's spice mills at St. Louis were partially destroyed by fire Wednesday evening, causing a loss of $85,000, with insurance of $50,000.

ST. LOUIS, Mo., Dec. 29. - About 7 o'clock this evening a general alarm called the fire department to a combat with flames that had just broken out and were burning furiously in the spice mills of William Schotten, No. 101 South Second street. The building, a four-story structure, 40 by 140 feet, was about two-thirds destroyed. The loss on building is $40,000; on stock, $35,000; on machinery, $10,000. Total, $85,000; insurance, $50,000.
