Essex, MT Crane Operator Crushed, Aug 1968

CRANE OPERATOR CRUSHED TO DEATH.

Essex, Mont. -- A crane operator was crushed to death near the small town of Essex in western Montana. Thirty-nine year old CHARLES WINCHELL of Whitefish died of injuries he suffered when a partially filled propane tank car fell against his crane.
He was helping clear the tracks after a derailment on the Great Northern. A wrecker from Havre was dispatched to the scene Monday to life the tank car so that WINCHELL'S body could be removed. The accident happened Sunday.
