Omaha, NE Sled Accident, Jan 1907

New Year's afternoon Anna Melvin, a 7-year-old girl, sustained a fracture of the leg while coasting in the north part of the city in company with a neighbor boy, Oscar Cain. Young Cain offered to steer her sled down the hill, but instead he is said to have given her a push and let her go down the steep incline alone. She collided with a tree at the bottom of the incline and broke her leg. Dr. Vance, who was called, had the girl removed to her home at Twenty-second street and Meredith avenue, where the injured member was put in a plastic cast.
