TWO OLEAN PEOPLE KILLED
John Walker, 82, Dies in Head-on Collision--Eileen Mooney, Hurt Crossing Street, Dies.
Olean, June 1.--Olean counted two dead today, the result of automobile accidents.
John Walker, 82, of Irving street, was killed in a head-on collision between two automobiles near Oneida Friday.
Miss Eileen Mooney, 62, of 914 West Henley street, died Friday in the West Side hospital of a fracture of the skull, suffered Thursday when she was struck by an automobile.
In the accident which cost the life of Mr. Walker, the scalp was nearly torn from the head of Mrs. Walker. Mrs. John (Helen) Shoff, Rome, granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walker, suffered left leg fracture and chin lacerations, and Mr. Shoff cuts in the forehead. Two others in the Shoff automobile were injured, as were the two passengers of a roadster.
The injured were taken to the Broad Street hospital in Oneida. The Shoff car was on the way to Rome, where the Walkers were to spend the holiday. Mr. Shoff, formerly of Olean, is a store manager in Rome.
Miss Mooney was crossing West State street at Ninth when she was struck by an automobile operated by Edgar F. Edwards, North Fourth street, Allegany. Police did not hold the driver.
Miss Mooney leaves two sisters, Sister Mary St. Clair of Montreal, Can., and Mrs. Margaret Burns, with whom she resided. Funeral services were held today.
