WOMAN KILLED BY COW.
ANIMAL BECAME VICIOUS WHILE BEING MILKED AND IMPALED VICTIM.
Special to The Washington Post.
Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Nov. 9 -- Although she fought desperately for more than an hour with what little strength was left in her frail body, MRS. TABOR HART, wife of a farmer living at Lloyd, near here, was killed today by a cow. The family had owned the animal for years and she had never before showed signs of viciousness.
MRS. HART had been in the habit of milking the cow daily and never had had any trouble with her until today. When she entered the shed the animal appeared docile but when she started milking the cow kicked her viciously in the breast. The woman picked up a bale stick and prepared to defend herself. In the meantime she yelled for her husband who could not hear. The cow impaled MRS. HART on her horns and tossed her in the air.
When Mr. Hart at last went to the shed the cow turned on him also but he used a pitchfork and forced her to retreat.
