Mt. Morris, N.Y. (AP) - Three Air Force men were killed Wednesday when a helicopter hit high-tension power lines and crashed into the rugged Genesee River gorge.
The helicopter was participating in a search for an 83-year-old professor emeritus of the University of Rochester, who disappeared while on a picnic.
The Air Force identified two of the victims as Maj. LEE J. CARBONNEAU, 37, of Arlington, Mass.; and Capt. VICTOR A. HAAF, 35, of Baltimore, Md.
The name of the third was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The professor, Dr. Walter H. Bloor, of Rochester, was found about three hours later, walking along an entrance road in Letchworth State Park. He said he became lost and spent the night in the woods.
