TWO KILLED IN THEATER FIRE.
WALLS CATCH MEN WORKING IN RUINS OF MANSFIELD FIRE.
Mansfield, Feb. 11. -- (AP) -- Two men were killed when the walls of the Madison Theater collapsed following a fire which destroyed the theater early yesterday. Damage was estimated at $400,000.
SIDNEY HINDERLINE and CHARLES REISER were killed as they worked among the ruins.
The fire, of unknown origin, broke out shortly after the midnight show had closed. It spread quickly, fed by gas from a broken main, which leaped 30 feet into the air. A wall fell on the adjoining DICKINSON market building and caused an explosion which did considerable damage.
The entire stage of the theater was afire when firemen reached the place. Surrounding buildings were damaged by heat and water.
HINDERLINE was killed instantly when caught beneath the wall and REISER died on the way to a hospital.
