Chillicothe, OH Saw Mill Boiler Explosion, Jan 1889

FRIGHTFUL EXPLOSION.

Chillicothe, Ohio, Jan. 25. -- By the explosion of a boiler in a saw mill yesterday afternoon two men were killed and two others received probably fatal injuries. The saw mill was located in a region known as Tar Hollow, in the hills north-east of here about twelve miles.
It was operated by GEORGE and JAMES DEARTH, JOHN W. ARLIDGE and EBENEZER STARLING. The explosion occurred just after the men had returned to work from dinner, killing both GEORGE and JAMES DEARTH and mangling ARLIDGE and STARLING in a horrible manner. The explosion was caused by want of water in the boiler.
