(By The Associated Press)
A passenger train hit an automobile 11 miles southeast of Chillicothe Sunday killing the four passengers and strewing their broken bodies 75 feet.
Their deaths and 14 others throughout the state brought to 18 the number of violent deaths since Friday night, an Associated Press poll shows.
Victims of the train-auto crash were NORMAN SPEARRY, 42, of Route 5, Chillicothe; his two sons, ROBERT, 7, and EMERSON, 5, and his father-in-law, GEORGE W. NELSON, 60, of Route 2, Wellston.
The accident happened about one mile from the SPEARRY home. A witness said the car almost came to a stop where the Norfolk & Western Railway double tracks cross a country road, and then moved out in front of the locomotive.
