FIVE PEOPLE KILLED IN OHIO CAR ACCIDENT.
Willard, Ohio - A car veered off a northern Ohio road and sank in a farm pond Saturday, killing five people, the state Highway Patrol said.
The car was traveling about a mile west of Willard when a witness saw it go off U.S. 224, drive through a field, and become airborne before landing and sinking in the pond, the patrol said.
The victims were not immediately identified.
The vehicle was submerged for about 30 minutes, and divers pulled the victims from the car, said Huron County Coroner Jeffrey Harwood.
Investigators did not know what caused the crash.
"We've going to work it up from the crash site," said patrol Lt. Walt Poffenbaugh.
"Now's the time to put all the pieces together and figure out what happened and why."
