FIRE DESTROYS BIG BUILDING
SANDUSKY, O., Nov. 19. -- The MAHALA block, a four-story brick building on Washington row near Columbus avenue, the latter the main thoroughfare of the city, was totally destroyed by an early morning fire with a loss estimated at $175,000. Thireteen families occupying the three upper floors were forced to flee for their lives.
The first floor of the building was occupied by about seven small stores. The loss to these is estimated at $50,000. The Sandusky Business college occupied part of the second floor. Its loss, with that of the occupants of the apartments will probably be $25,000. The building, one of the larger ones of the city, although built 27 years ago, was valued at $150,000.
