Plane Assembly Plant Burns
Oklahoma City (AP) – Engineers today probed the Aero Design and Engineering Co.’s burned assembly plant to determine damage while company directors called a meeting to discuss future plans.
A fire of undetermined origin swept the main assembly building early yesterday, destroying the structure and seven Aero-Commander twin-engine planes.
President R. T. AMUS Jr. estimated damage to the planes at more than half a million dollars. Building and other equipment loses were estimated by firemen at more than half a million.
The firm has built 15 planes for the government, including two for President EISENHOWER, but has no contract now, AMUS said.
