HEAVY RAINS ATTEND STORM IN PITTSBURG, OK., AREA.

Special to The News.
McAlester, Ok., April 9. – Of tornado proportions, without the resulting “after effects,” a storm visited this city today, leaving not only a trail of uprooted trees, broken telephone poles, overturned houses, broken windows and leveled billboards, but also a water-soaked country, with consequent swollen streams and a few less bridges here and there throughout the county. Injuries were few and far between in Pittsburg County and not a death has been reported as the result of the storm, which according to close observers, seemed to travel a space through the county about a mile and a half wide. During the storm, which lasted three hours, two and a half inches of rain fell, flooding the streets and in some of the low places in this city flooding homes that were near the ground.
