TWO OFFICERS DIE IN PLANE CRASH IN COLUMBIA GORGE.
The Dalles, Ore., May 4. - (AP) - Two officers killed in the crash of an army observation plane yesterday in the Columbia River gorge were identified today as 1st Lt. MORRIS C. LEWIS and Warrant Officer (jg) OTTO H. CHRISTIANSEN.
Military authorities said Lt. LEWIS, Fort Lewis Corps of Engineers, was the pilot. His home town was Hornlake, Miss. CHRISTIANSEN, Fort Worden, Wash., was observer. His home town was Hanover, Pa.
Lt. LEWIS is survived by his widow, Mary, Tacoma.
CHRISTIANSEN is survived by his widow, Catherine, and a one year old son, Port Townsend, Wash.
The plane was circling above Army Engineer amphibious training operations in the river.
