Pittsburgh, PA Allegheny River Drowning Rescue, Jan 1903
PITTSBURG—From the icy waters of the Allegheny river Captain H. C. Price yesterday saved Bernard Althouse, a German. Price was sitting in his boat house, when Althouse mounted a rail of the bridge and jumped. Without stopping to divest himself of his clothing, Price went out of the window into the river, filled with floating ice, and swimming to where the German was struggling in the water, brought him ashore.
