West Chester, PA Compressed Air Explosion, Sep 1930


West Chester, Sept. 17 (AP) - One man was killed and another injured today when a steel drum filled with compressed air exploded at a manufacturing plant here.
The man killed was ROBERT KING, 20, of near West Chester. He died while being taken to Chester County Hospital.
LESTER N. CAIN, 18, of Marshalltown, Del., was slightly injured. He is in Homeopathic Hospital suffering from shock and cuts.
KING and CAIN were trying to empty a 50-gallon steel drum filled with varnish. The head flew out as they forced compressed air into it.
