Train Carrying Superintendent Collides with Engine at Canton

Canton, S. D., Oct. 25. -- The southbound Milwaukee passenger coming around the sharp curve on the west side of town collided with an engine on the east end of the curve, bound for the Y. Nobody was seriously hurt. The men on the engine reversed and jumped and the engine ran back to the depot, where it was stopped by Conductor Sullivan.

The car of Superintendent Beardsley of Sioux City was attached to the passenger train. The front of the passenger engine was smashed and the forward truck thrown out of place. The tender was smashed and the drawbar of the mail car smashed. The responsibility rests upon the two men on the engine.
