$120,000 Fire Hits Jacksonville Compress

JACKSONVILLE, Texas, Sept. 6.---Fire caused by lightning damaged and destroyed cotton worth about $120,000 Monday at the Jacksonville Compress Company plant. The loss was insured.

The fire was the largest in Jacksonville in several years, but firemen prevented its spread to adjacent warehouses holding several thousand more bales of cotton. Most of the cotton damaged and destroyed was government loan cotton, company officials said.
