GALVESTON.

Proprietor of a Saloon Shot and His Building Burned.

Galveston, Tex., Oct. 30—Nick Hendricks, proprietor of a saloon at Virginia point, while sitting in front of his saloon last night was fired upon from ambush and his head, face and breast filled with No. 4 shot. He was brought to the city and now lies in Sealy Hospital in a very critical condition. After Hendricks was brought to the city his saloon was fired and totally destroyed. The assassin and incendiary is unknown, and the matter is being investigated. Hendricks was popular and not known to have an enemy. He is 38 years old, and formerly from St. Louis, and had just sent for his wife and children in that city to join him here.
