Destructive Fire at Groveton.

Groveton, Texas, April 24.-The business bloc of the east side of Sloan Street is in ashes. The fire was discovered at 2:00 yesterday morning in the rear of Cohen Bros.’ store buildings, and at 5 o’clock the block was in ruins. Losses are as follows: H. J. Mangum, $110,000, insurance, $8,000; Nelms & Collins, $1200, insurance, $100. Goodman & [illegible], $5,000, insurance, $1500, John R. Collins, $4,000, insurance, $1700; A.M. Furlov, $2800, insurance, $1850; W.T. Alston, slight loss; B.A. Platt, $6,000, insurance, $2500; J.J. Baker, $1000, no insurance; post office, slight loss; Leo Goolsby, $3500, no insurance; W.J. Stevenson, $800, no insurance; Cohen Bros., $3700, no insurance; W.B. Avery, $8500, no insurance; E.J. Magee, $1000, no insurance. The Trinity County Lumber company’s water works saved the rest of the block. Origin of fire unknown.
