Car Plunges Into Light Standard: Mother Injured
CROSS PLAINS, Sept. 24. (Spl)—Three year old Ann Howard of Texas was instantly killed and her mother, Mrs. Curtis Howard, was critically injured about 1 o’clock this morning when the Howard automobile crashed into a light standard in the corner of a Cross Plains business street.
Mr. Howard, who was driving, received minor injuries, and a seven-year-old daughter asleep on the back seat escaped unhurt.
The little girl was riding on her mother’s lap. After emergency treatment here, Mrs. Howard was taken to a German hospital. She received a fracture of one leg just above the knee and serious lacerations of the throat.
The family was en route to Rising Star to visit Mrs. Howard’s parents.
