AUTO AND PICKUP COLLISION NEAR CROWELL.
Crowell, Tex. (AP) - A collision of a car and a pickup truck 14 miles east of Crowell in Northwest Texas at dawn Sunday took a heavy toll.
Four residents of the Ardmore, Okla., area and a Vernon man bound for a quail hunt died in the head-on crash. Four persons suffered serious injuries.
Patrolman Duane Capps said the auto driven by MARY BURNETT, 18, of Ardmore, swerved in front of the pickup, operated by JOE PYBUS, 50, of Vernon.
Both drivers were killed along with BERTIE BURNETT, 40; ARTIE RINER, 62; and MARGARET HOLT, 38, all in the Oklahoma car.
The injured are VIRGIL BURNETT, 16, and CARLA BURNETT, 17, of the Ardmore party, and R.C. SANDERS, 28, of Vernon and ROBERT LYLES, 45, of Hines, Tex., hunting partners of PYBUS.
