Raging Forest Fires In North Texas Area Believed Controlled
CLARKSVILLE, Texas, Feb. 26.---Forest fires which had raged over several thousand acres of pine timberland northwest of here were believed under control Saturday, after volunteer crews had battled them in the face of a high wind throughout Friday night. Patrols were still being maintained in the area, but one of the fires was extinguished and danger from two others was thought passed.
Of undetermined origin, the falmes[sic] raced through the excessively dry pine for several hours at such a rate that the fighters could do little but fall back. Young trees were destroyed and larger ones damaged, while several piles of logs being cut for a big lumber mill here were burned.
