Oak Cliff, TX Grocery Store Fire, Dec 1908

Damage Is Done to Grocery Stock of J. L. Farmer.

At 10:30 last night an alarm was pulled for a fire in the grocery store of J. L. Farmer, corner Seventh and Jefferson streets, Oak Cliff. The fire damage was very slight, but the water damage amounted to about half the value of the stock.

Mr. Farmer was out of the city, but one of his clerks said he carried an $800 stock. He was not informed as to how much insurance Mr. Farmer carried. The second floor of the building was occupied as a dwelling by Mrs. Williams and her daughter and T. E. Rawlins. Their furniture was damaged by water.

The building, which was damaged but little, is owned by a man who lives somewhere in South Texas, and whose name could not be ascertained.
