Rutland, VT Dynamite Accident, Aug 1898
Dynamite Accident at Rutland.
RUTLAND, Vt., Aug. 6.---Patrick Cahill, an employe [sic] of this city, was injured by the unexpected explosion of a dynamite blast in a sewer excavated this afternoon. The victim's recovery is doubtful. Rock was being removed by dynamite. Cahill put in two charges, lighted both, and retired. One charge was effective, but the other was not, and he went into the opening to ascertain the cause, just as the second explosion occurred. Another victim was terribly injured.
