BRAKEMAN ON FREIGHT TRAIN SERIOUSLY HURT

H. H. Mays, of Richmond, Sustains Painful Injuries in Accident at Danville.

DANVILLE, VA., August 4. -- H. H. Mays, of Richmond, brakeman on a freight train between Danville and Richmond was severely injured here yesterday evening when his train was pulling into the yards. Near the coal chute he leaned out of the cab window to observe signals when his head was struck by a standing box car.

He sustained a bad scalp wound and was taken off the train and removed to his home nearby, but later in the evening his condition became such that he was removed to the General Hospital where he was reported making good progress this afternoon.
