McChord Field, WA Army Bomber Crash, May 1942
PLANE WRECKED IN NORTHWEST.
Tacoma, Wash., May 3. (UP) -- A U.S. army bomber crashed at McChord Field today, killing three men and seriously injuring the fourth, it was announced tonight.
The army said the crash occurred at 4:30 p.m. (PWT) and that a board of local air corps officers was appointed to determine the cause.
1st Lt. WILLIAM E. COBER, pilot, son of W. F. Comber, 4439 Paul Street, Frankfort, Pa.
2nd Lt. ADOLPH T. FRERISCH, co-pilot, son of Mrs. Lilly M. Frerisch, Route 1, Fairfax, Mo.
Corp. FRANK W. IRWIN, son of Mrs. Lois M. Irwin, 150 N. Milan, San Benito, Tex.
Seriously injured was Sgt. RANDOLPH T. CORRELL, son of Mrs. Carrie E. Correll, 606 S.W. 3rd Street, Perryton, Tex.
