SIX ARE KILLED AS CAR PLUNGES INTO POCA RIVER.
Charleston, W. Va. (AP) - Six persons were killed early today when their car veered off U.S. 21 about two miles north of Sissonville and plunged into the Poca River.
State police reported the bodies had been recovered but not identified. Two women, three girls, and one boy were in the car.
The accident was witnessed by persons in a car driving behind.
State police said that driver, Mrs. Iona Kouns of Stickney, Raleigh County, had told them she and her two sons were driving behind the other car, which had an Ohio license plate. The front car suddenly veered off the highway and went into the swollen river.
State police and wrecker crewmen were unable to locate it in the early morning darkness. They began their search at daybreak and soon found the wreck and the bodies.
Sissonville is about 14 miles north of Charleston.
