Lamont, WI Plane Crash, Jan 1947


Darlington, Wis., -- (UP) -- Officials of the civil aeronautics commission today investigated the crash of a private airplane in which two men died yesterday.
FREDERICK RIEMER, 30, Monroe, and VERNON JOHNSON, 19, Argyle, were killed instantly when the plane, flown by RIEMER, crashed 12 miles northeast of here near Lamont.
Edward Larson and his brother saw the plane crash in a hayfield on their farm. It burst into flames as it hit the ground. The heat of the fire drove the Larson brothers back when they attempted to save RIEMER and JOHNSON.
