Hayward, WI Killed by Falling Logs, May 1909
LOGGER IS INSTANTLY KILLED NEAR HAYWARD

HAYWARD, Wis., May 22.--At 1:30 Friday afternoon, Frank Blackbird was instantly killed while unloading logs at the landing of the North Wisconsin Lumber & Manufacturing company, Hayward, Wis.. The accident occurred at the mill of the above named concern, where Blackbird was employed in unloading logs. It seems he had loosened the top chain, and in some manner the logs became suddenly released, five of them passing over him, crushing his head, killing him immediately. The funeral will be held Monday morning.
