Bailey's Harbor, WI Axe Accident, Jun 1881
A telegram from Sturgeon Bay, dated Friday, gives the following in regard to an accident at Bailey's Harbor:
A man named Debrow met with a shocking accident at Bailey's Harbor. He was carrying a railroad tie on his shoulder and a double hitted axe in his hand, when he suddenly slipped and fell on an axe, cutting a gash about seven inches long across his abdomen, so that his intestines protruded from his body. The man got up and walked a distance of several miles to a house, the while holding the internal parts up with his hands. A physician at this place was sent for. The doctor sewed up the cut, but thinks the injured man cannot live.
