FIVE DIE IN CAR PLUNGING INTO MISSISSIPPI RIVER.

Nelson, Wis. - (U.P.) - Five Minnesota teenagers were killed early Sunday when their car crashed through a guard rail and plunged into the Mississippi River near here.
The victims were identified as:
GEORGE BILLINGS, believed to have been the driver;
FRANCIS KREYE, 15;
MARLENE HANSON, 14;
JOAN ZIEMETZ, 15, all of Wabasha, Minn.;
and JERRY HALEY, 16, of Kellogg, Minn.
The accident occurred on a road which crosses the river between Wabasha and Nelson.
Buffalo County Sheriff Glen Davis said the car skidded 200 feet before smashing through the steel guard rail. The car dropped 50 feet into the water and sank 40 feet to the murky depths of the river.
Davis said dragging equipment was rushed to the scene and the car, with all five occupants, was found shortly before daybreak. He said the teen-agers apparently drowned.
The victims were believed en route back home from Wisconsin when the accident occurred.
