JANESVILLE, Wis., March 16, 1877.

Correspondence of The Inter Ocean.

A fire broke out last night at 9 o'clock in the frame dwelling corner of Dodge and Academy streets, owned by Dr. A. M. Mowe, and occupied by C. L. Steele. It is supposed that the house was entered by burglars, robbed, and then set on fire. Mr. Steele was absent in Chicago on business, and his wife had been visiting during his absence with friends in another part of the city. A few articles were saved from the parlor. Everything else, including house, is a total wreck; partially covered by insurance.
