Fort Howard, WI building fire, Jun 1883

The brick building at the corner of Broadway and Main-street, Fort Howard, Wis., just across the river from Green Bay, was burned yesterday, the fire catching from a stove in the custom department of the clothing-house of J. & J. H. Delany, who occupied the ground floor and part of the second story. They lose $7,000 on stock; insurance, $2,500. The building was owned by J. Verght and M. Bennet, who lose $13,000. The records of the City Council, which were kept in the second story, were destroyed.
