Cross Plains, WI hotel fire, Sept 1864

FIRE AT CROSS PLAINS. - A hotel in Cross Plains, known, we believe, as the Christiana House, was consumed by fire on the night of the 18th inst. It is owned by Mr. Harmam of this place. The house was unoccupied at the time. The building and furniture and some $300 worth of liquors were entirely consumed. Nothing saved. The property destroyed was worth about $4,000, insured in the Hartford for $2,900. The fire must have been the work of an incendiary, as there was no one in it at the time. There are no well grounded suspicions as to the guilty party.
