Lander, WY Pickup Truck Crash, May 1998
5 TEENS KILLED IN TRUCK CRASH.
Lander, Wyo. (AP) - A pickup truck went out of control and crashed during a police chase Saturday, killing five of the six teen-agers accused of stealing the vehicle. The one survivor was in critical condition.
The teens, all from the Wind River Indian Reservation, ranged in age from 15 to 17, police Chief Dick Currah said.
The youths apparently stole the pickup truck, which had been left running, from a convenience store parking lot. One climbed into the bed of the truck and five were in the cab, Currah said.
The truck failed to stop after an officer following it turned on his siren. The truck then veered off the road and crashed, police said.
