Two Flats Burned in Avalon Fire.

Other Riversiders Escaped Loss

So far as reported Mrs. E. Henry Way is the only Riversider who suffered loss in the big fire at Avalon yesterday.  Mrs. Way owned two flats, divided into eight apartments near the Rose hotel.  These are reported a total loss, and it is not believed that any of the contents were saved.

Mrs. Way went to Catalina this morning to ascertain the amount of her losses.  The flats were partially insured, but the loss will be heavy.

Mrs. M. E. Hewitt, J. S. Castleman, Mrs. J. B. Redman and A. J. McLean own cottages at Avalon, but they were in the part of town that escaped the flames.

Mrs. Hewitt owns five cottages on Metropole avenue, and counts herself most fortunate to have escaped fire loss.
