Blanca, CO Two Car Head On Crash, Apr 1987


Blanca, Colo. (AP) - Seven people, including a family of six from Los Alamos, N.M., were killed in a head-on, two-car crash near Blanca in Costilla County on Friday, the Colorado State Patrol reported.
The patrol said a car driven by LOUIS F. DUSSART, 81, of Pueblo, was eastbound on U.S. Highway 160 about two miles east of Blanca, when it skidded into the westbound lane of Traffic and struck an oncoming car head-on. DUSSART died at the scene.
The six occupants of the other car all were killed, with one surviving long enough to be taken to a hospital.
Killed in the second car were the driver, CARL F. VIRCHOW, 49; LEANN VIRCHOW, 43; JAMES VIRCHOW, 14; DAVID VIRCHOW, 16; MARK VIRCHOW, 7; and PAUL VIRCHOW, 22.
PAUL VIRCHOW survived the impact and was taken to St. Francis Hospital where he later died, the patrol said.
