Lake Wales, FL Head On Collision, Feb 1956

DR. HERRMANN AND WIFE DIE IN AUTO WRECK.

THREE OTHERS ALSO DEAD IN FLORIDA ACCIDENT.

PROMINENT LOCAL COUPLE EN ROUTE HOME FROM VACATION.

DR. N. A. HERRMANN and his wife, BERNICE, of Harrisburg were among five persons killed today in a head-on collision of two cars on U.S. Route 27 one mile north of Lake Wales, Florida.
DR. and MRS. HERRMANN were en route home from a vacation trip to Miami. They were scheduled to arrive home Thursday evening.
A United Press dispatch from Lake Wales today identified the dead as:
DR. and MRS. N. A. HERRMANN, of Harrisburg;
MR. and MRS. J. O. EDINGTON of Haines City, Fla., and Champaign, Ill.;
D. J. WESTON of Haines City and Champaign.
Only one victim survived. MRS. ETHEL WESTON, apparently the wife of one of the victims, suffered fractured ribs, but Lake Wales Hospital reported her condition as good.
Officers said the WESTONS and EDINGTONS apparently moved to Haines City only recently. Both couples still carried identification cards with Champaign, Ill., addresses.
Mrs. Annary Empson, employed in the offices of Dr. Herrmann, a local physician, said a wire received yesterday revealed the couple planned to arrive home Thursday.
