TORNADOES IN KANSAS.

TOPEKA, May 13.---At about 5 o'clock this afternoon a tornado passed over Jefferson county. It destroyed several farm buildings and barns, but so far as can be learned here no lives were lost. The storm, which appeared to be about eighty rods in width, struck the earth near North Cedar on the extreme edge of the county about five miles west of Valley Falls.

The storm then lifted and next appeared about four miles southeast of Valley Falls. Here it was about one-quarter mile wide. For four miles crops and trees were torn up. The German Evangelical church north of Valley Falls was totally wrecked and the farmhouse of a man named Price was badly damaged. The Prices escaped without injury so far as can be learned. Four barns were destroyed in this neighborhood.
