COUPLE KILLED WHEN LIGHT PLANE CRASHES.

Kansas City (AP) -- A light plane, coming down in flames, crashed between two houses in Kansas City North yesterday, killing an Illinois couple.
The pilot, HALTON H. FRIEND, 56, and his wife, JEANNETTE, 44, Crystal Lake, Ill., were trying to make an emergency landing after their engine caught fire.
The wreckage burned only five feet from the home of HARRY HUNTMAN. Two small children in the nearest room were not hurt. The flames scorched the paint and cracked windows in the house.
The FRIENDS, flying home from a Christmas visit to Grand Junction, Colo., had just taken off after a refueling stop at Kansas City's Municipal airport. The plane crashed about two miles north of the airport.
