"Woman Drowns In Boat Mishap On Old River"
INNIS--A Baton Rouge resident, Mrs. Dianna Faye Civello Webb, 24, drowned about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on Old River at Innis when the small, wooden boat in which she was riding sank in about 15 feet of water.
The accident happened about 30 or 60 feet from shore. Mrs. Webb reportedly could not swim and attempts to save her failed.
Swimming to safety were her husband, David Wayne Webb, and a sister, Miss Patricia Civello. The Webb's 18-month-old son, David Wayne Webb Jr., was rescued.
Mrs. Webb's body was recovered at 11 p.m. Wednesday by Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries District Supervisor Vince Purpera near the spot where the boat went under.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rabenhorst Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Fletcher Hart. Burial will be in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
