COAL-DUST BLAST KILLS MAN.
Jersey City, N.J. (UP) - A coal-dust explosion ripped through a spice-milling factory Thursday killing one man and injuring 15 other persons.
The dead man was 53-year-old JOHN SOLOKOWSKI, of Jersey City, who was milling charcoal on the third floor of the Walter C. Gregory Corp., building when the blast occurred.
Acting Fire Chief Jules Resslard said an
"accumulation of dust" around the milling apparatus touched off the blast, which ignited a three-alarm fire that raged for an hour before it was controlled.
