Bloomingburg, NY Small House Fire, Nov 1968
FIRE KILLS ALL 7 IN FAMILY.
Bloomingburg, N.Y. (AP) - Seven members of a family perished today in a fire that swept through their one-story home in a remote spot in the Catskill Mountains foothills, state police reported.
Rescue work was hampered by a driving snow storm and the desolate location of the home in the nearby hamlet of Burlingham, about 70 miles north of New York City.
The fire destroyed the small wooden bungalow.
"Only a few boards are left," a witness said.
Bodies In Rear Of Home.
State Police said the bodies of DONALD TERWILLIGER, 30, and his wife MARGARET were found huddled in the rear of the house with the bodies of their five children, PETER, 10; CATHERINE, 8; DONALD, 6; ANGEL, 5; and OTIS, 4.
Police said MRS. TERWILLIGER was pregnant.
