Off Gloucester, MA Bomber Crashes Off Coast, Feb 1957
4 IN CRASH; ONE FOUND.
Gloucester, Mass. (AP) -- A six-jet Air Force B47 bomber crashed flaming into the sea off this fishing port last night. The body of one of her four-man crew was recovered today by the Coast Guard.
The body was identified as that of 1st Lt. STANLEY D. JENKINS, JR., 28, of Pendleton, Ore.
Fishermen picked up four life jackets and piecesof the craft. They said they saw no survivors.
Portsmouth, N. H., Air Force Base reported a B47 missing after it failed to return from a routine training flight. The Public Information Office identified the other crewmen as:
Capt. ALEXANDER A. WAWRZYNIAK, 35, of Braddock, Pa., plane commander.
Capt. ORRIN W. SNYDER, III, 31, of Memphis, Tenn., instructor pilot.
First Lt. STANLEY N. PARTRIDGE, 25, of Cleveland, Ohio, flight observer.
