Lima, OH Coasting Accident, Dec 1936

Two children were injured in weekend mishaps in Lima.
DON SHIVELY, nine, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Shively, 328 S. Collett Street, was in a serious condition in St. Rita's Hospital Saturday night after he crashed head-long into a tree while coasting in Faurot Park Saturday afternoon.
The child, according to his father, was playing alone in the park and while sliding down the incline apparently hit a stick, or some other obstruction, and was thrown from his sled against the tree. Several other children, also playing in the park but not with SHIVELY, found him unconscioius about five minutes after the accident. The children called for help and the child was taken to the hospital.
At St. Rita's it was reported the child suffered a broken wrist, severe head injuries and a deep leg laceration which required surgery. His condition was described as serious.
