Middleport, OH Three Car Crash Kills Seven, May 1957

7 DIE IN OHIO TRAFFIC CRASH.

EIGHTH IS CRITICALLY HURT IN OHIO TRAGEDY.

Pomeroy, O., (INS) - The death toll in a three car collision on Route 7 in nearby Middleport rose to seven today with the death of a 17-year-old girl.
The State Highway Patrol reported that NANCY McCOY died in Meigs County General Hospital at 4 a.m. of injuries suffered in the accident which occurred at 7 p.m.
She had previously been listed in critical condition with a skull fracture.
The other dead were identified as:
JOHN C. SMITH, 21, Middleport;
GEORGE HALLEY, 32, and his wife, ELIZABETH, 32;
MARSHALL McCOY, SR., 40, and his six year old son, GEORGE;
and MRS. CHARLES McCOY, 17, all of Cheshire.
Critically injured in Meigs County General Hospital in Pomeroy was MRS. RUBY McCOY, 37, the wife of MARSHALL.
The patrol said SMITH was alone in one car. The others were in a station wagon driven by HALLEY.
The patrol reported today a third car, driven by Hubert Boyd, 48, of Cheshire, was also involved in the southern Ohio accident. Boyd was not injured, they said.
It was not known whether NANCY McCOY and MRS. CHARLES McCOY were related to the others of the same name.
