Newark, OH Auto And Milk Truck Crash, Sep 1956

FIVE IN FAMILY DIE IN CRASH.

Newark, Ohio, Sept. 2 (AP) - Five members of a central Ohio family were killed today when their car collided with a milk truck at the intersection of Ohio Highways 668 and 586, about 10 miles east of Newark.
The Ohio Highway Patrol identified the dead as:
ERNEST BARNES, 34, of Toboso (near Newark) the driver;
his wife DOROTHY, 31;
and their three children, BARBARA, 12, ERNEST, JR., and MARSHA, 2.
The driver of the truck, JACK HOWARD, 25, of Mount Vernon, was treated for minor lacerations. His 51-year-old father, DWIGHT, was hospitalized in Newark with a severe foot injury.
Highway patrolman Jack Stickle said BARNES appeared to have run a stop sign and collided with the truck in the center of the intersection. Stickle said the five members of the BARNES family were killed instantly.
